Paying Your Premiums to the Carrier
If you've submitted your application through Via Benefits for an Individual and Family Private plan, Medicare Prescription Drug plan, Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug plan, you need to contact your insurance carrier for information about your premium or to change your payment method. Some plans require Binder Payments.
Automatic Premium Payment Methods
Direct debit, Automatic Clearing House (ACH) and electronic funds transfer (EFT) are methods used to automatically pay insurance premiums from a checking or savings account. Contact your insurance carrier directly to set up automatic payment of your premiums. The carrier’s contact information is usually on the back of your insurance ID card.
How To Update Your Premium Payment Information
Your insurance carrier processes your premium payments. If you need to change any of your payment information after you submit your application, contact your insurance carrier.
Before calling the carrier, gather your current payment information, including account number, routing number, or credit card information.
Call the carrier at the phone number on your insurance ID card.
Tell the carrier's representative that you'd like to update the method of payment for your premiums.
Paperless Billing
Many insurance carriers offer paperless billing, which eliminates the paper bill you receive in the mail and replaces it with an electronic version via email. In addition to reducing paper waste and clutter, paperless billing enables you to access your bill anywhere an Internet connection is available. Call your insurance carrier directly to determine whether this feature is available for your plan. The insurance carrier's contact information is generally on the back of your insurance ID card.
Your Premium Bill
If you haven't received your premium bill, contact your insurance carrier for assistance if you've received other correspondence from your carrier, and it's been more than 21 days since you submitted your application. Otherwise, contact Via Benefits and a representative can help you call your insurance carrier.
