Marketplace Plan Renewals and Coverage Changes
If you enrolled in a Marketplace plan through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) or a state-based marketplace (SBM), it will automatically be renewed next year as long as you continue paying your premium and do not receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which details upcoming changes in coverage, costs, or service areas effective January 1 of the following year.
If you receive a Premium Tax Credit (PTC) and didn’t authorize the Marketplace to automatically verify your financial information for future years (for up to five years), your PTC will end, and you'll be responsible for paying the full premium amount. To re-evaluate your coverage, reapply, and maintain your PTC, call us at 1-866-322-2824 (TTY: 711).
Renewal and Automatic Re-enrollment
The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) for Marketplace health coverage begins November 1 each year.
In the fall, your insurance carrier will send information about any changes to your plan's premiums, benefits, or coverage. Review these changes carefully to determine whether the plan still meets your needs.
Call us at 1-866-322-2824 (TTY: 711) or visit our website to:
Confirm your doctors and other healthcare providers will remain in the plan's network next year.
Verify that your prescriptions will continue to be covered.
If you're satisfied with your current plan and there have been no changes to your income or household size, you generally don't need to take any action unless you receive notification from your carrier. The Marketplace will automatically re-enroll you in your current plan for the following year.
Changes to Household Coverage
If you're planning on renewing a plan and would like to change who is covered by your plan, call Via Benefits at 1-866-322-2824 (TTY: 711). This includes:
Adding or removing household members.
Updating household information.
Enrolling family members in different plans.
Report Income or Household Changes
If your income or household size has changed, you must report those changes to the Marketplace. Contact us at 1-866-322-2824 (TTY: 711) to reapply and ensure you receive the correct PTC amount.
If you don't update your information, your PTC will be based on the previous year's information. This could result in owing money when you file your federal tax return if:
Your income increased.
Your household size changed.
Changing Plans
If you'd like to change plans, you can:
Enroll in a different plan through the Marketplace.
Enroll in a private health plan outside the Marketplace.
Keep in mind that plans purchased outside the Marketplace aren't eligible for Premium Tax Credits (PTCs) or cost-sharing reductions.
If Your Current Plan Is No Longer Available
In some cases, your current Marketplace plan may not be offered next year. If this happens, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, which allows you to enroll in another individual health plan outside the OEP.
To explore your options, call 1-866-322-2824 (TTY: 711) or visit our website.
