Opening a Via Benefits Individual HSA
This article applies to you if you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) administered by Via Benefits.
Via Benefits offers Individual Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for people who are no longer associated with their former employer and for others that would like to open an Individual HSA or transfer an HSA from a former employer.
Note: If you have a Via Benefits HSA from your employment with one of our clients, an Individual HSA account will automatically be set up within two weeks after we are notified that your employment has ended.
To enroll in a Via Benefits HSA, complete the following steps:
Navigate to viabenefitsaccounts.com.
Select Enroll in the lower-right corner, under Enroll in an HSA.
3. On the HSA landing page, select Enroll Now.
4. Enter your Social Security Number and Date of Birth and select Continue.
Note: If you already have an HSA with Via Benefits, you will be redirected to the login page.
5. If you do not have an existing HSA with Via Benefits, you will need to enter additional demographic data. Select Continue.
Note: If you entered an incorrect SSN or DOB in step 4, select Start Over.
6. Complete the authentication requirements.
7. Select Yes, I want to Continue to confirm you want to Continue Opening your HSA with Via Benefits.
8. You may be asked to answer several questions to verify your identity.
If you are unable to provide the correct answers, you will be asked to upload documents to verify your identity. Select Upload Documents.
You will receive confirmation after uploading documents. Once the verification is complete, you will receive an email notification so you can complete the enrollment.
9. After your identity has been verified, read our Terms and Conditions and check the box to agree to them.
You can download a copy of the Terms and Conditions or check the box to request a copy by mail and select Continue.
Provide an electronic signature.
10. If you want to have money transferred from another HSA, complete the HSA Transfer Agreement To bypass this page, select I do not agree to the HSA Transfer Terms and Conditions. Select Continue.
11. Review if you are eligible to make contributions to your HSA. Select the appropriate response and select Continue.
12. If you are eligible to contribute to an HSA, select your plan type and select Continue.
Note: This information is used to determine how much you’re eligible to contribute to your HSA.
13. If you are eligible to contribute to an HSA, complete the Setup Contributions step.
Note: You can skip this step during account setup. You will be able to add this information after your account is established.
14. If you skipped the Setup Contributions step, you will be asked to add banking information for future direct deposits or contributions.

15. You will be asked if you would like to invite your dependent to open an HSA with us. This step is optional.
16. Select how you would like to transfer your money to your new HSA. This step is optional.
17. Your HSA is set up. Select Ok, Got it.
