Your Reimbursement Notification Settings

You can choose how you’d like to receive updates about your reimbursement account. Depending on your preferences, you can receive notifications by email, mail, or text message.

Managing your notification settings can help you receive important account information faster and reduce paper mail. You can update your preferences at any time through the website or the Via Benefits Accounts mobile app.

Notifications may include:

  • Reimbursement request status updates

  • Payments

  • Balance reminders

  • Direct deposit updates

  • Account activity alerts

  • Explanations of Payment (EOPs)

You can always sign in to your reimbursement account to review account activity and communications.

Please note: Via Benefits doesn’t manage communications sent by your insurance carrier. To update your health plan communication preferences, contact your carrier directly. Many carriers offer paperless delivery and automatic premium payment options.

Standard Account Notifications (Email or Paper)

Standard Account Notifications (Email or Paper)

Your Standard Account Notification preferences determine whether reimbursement account communications are delivered by mail or email. Choosing email allows you to receive information more quickly and helps reduce paper mail. Some communications will be sent by email or mail regardless of your selected preference.

For example:

  • If you have an email address on file, you’ll receive an email when an Explanation of Payment (EOP) is available.

  • If any expenses in a reimbursement request are denied or not approved, you’ll receive a paper Explanation of Unpaid Expenses (EOUE).

Setting Your Notification Preferences

To set your notification preferences, follow these steps:

Note: Some information may be cut off if you set your browser to 125% zoom or higher. We recommend using 100% zoom and expanding your browser.

  1. Sign in to viabenefitsaccounts.com.

  2. Select your name in the upper-right corner and then select Notifications.

  3. Select Edit Notifications Settings next to Standard Account Notifications.

  4. Select Email or Paper.

  5. Based on your selection, do the following:

    • Email: Accept the Electronic Communication terms and agreement and select Continue.

Communications Sent by Mail

Certain communications from Via Benefits must be mailed regardless of your notification preferences.

Examples may include:

  • Communications that must be sent by mail due to regulatory requirements.

  • Balance reminders

Notifications via Mobile App

Push Notifications

When you enable push notifications on your mobile device, you’ll receive alerts about your reimbursement account activity. Push notifications can’t be customized. If you’d like to choose which messages you receive, enroll in Mobile Text Notifications on the website.

To enable push notifications on the mobile app, follow these steps:

  1. On the menu (three lines) in the upper-left corner, select App Preferences.

  2. Select the Allow to receive Notifications toggle.

  3. Select Yes in the Are You Sure? pop-up box.

  4. You’ll be directed to your phone settings to allow notifications.

Mobile Text Notifications

If you haven’t set up Mobile Text Notifications, you’ll see a Receive Text Alerts message on your Dashboard.

Text alerts are optional and do not replace your Standard Account Notification preferences.

To set up Mobile Text Notifications, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to viabenefitsaccounts.com.

  2. Select your name in the upper-right corner and then select Notifications.

  3. Below Mobile Text Notifications, enter your Mobile Text Number.

Note: To change an existing phone number, select Edit next to Mobile Text Number. Changing your mobile number doesn’t change the phone number on your Via Benefits Profile page.

  4. Select the notifications you’d like to receive.

  5. Agree to the Terms and Conditions.

  6. Select Send Verification Code. You will be sent an activation code via text message.

  7. When you receive the code, enter it in the Activation Code field and select Activate.

You're now set up to receive text alerts!

How Mobile Text Notifications Affect the Notifications You Receive

If you set up mobile text notifications, you’ll receive a text alert in addition to your chosen standard notification preference.
